From birthdays and baby showers to holidays and weddings, if I’m throwing a party, I’m going to do it big!
So many different factors come in to play when planning a party. I usually start my planning months prior and give myself deadlines and a checklist of things that need to get done. Here are some of the main things that I consider while planning.
THEME
Choose a theme that makes sense with your event. For example, if you’re planning a kids birthday party, I would make sure that the theme is fun and colorful rather than elegant with gold and silvers. Make sure the theme stays consistent, from the cake and decor to the food and table settings.
LOCATION
Most of my events are at my house, except for my wedding of course. Since their most always at the same place, I like to always switch it up so each event won’t be so repetitive. When choosing a location make sure you take your theme into consideration as well as your guest list. For example, if you have a large guest list make sure your location has more than one bathroom. Make sure your location is also spacious! The last thing you want is for things to look cluttered and your guests being crammed in a small area.
DECOR
This is obviously my favorite part of planning a party. I live for decor! Sometimes I get a little out of control and end up buying too much decor, but then again can there ever really be too much decor? I think not! I just love that wow effect. Months prior I start buying my decor from online stores, Homegoods and reuse a lot of decor that I already have. You can also rent decor which sometimes saves money and time. I always incorporate a lot of flowers at my parties, usually roses. Cute little-personalized items like place cards, gift bags, and pictures go along way. for events other than the holidays, I have to have balloons and most recently I’ve been ding balloon arches which so beautiful especially when you place it so it’s the first thing people see when they walk in your party.
