The same day that I went to my OBGYN and she confirmed I was pregnant and gave me a due date, I started looking online for baby stuff. That weekend I headed to Babies R’Us and bought some of my favorite baby books like ‘Goodnight Moon’ and ‘The Giving Tree’. I also had to throw in some rattles and a few toys. I couldn’t help it I was just so excited.
I basically decided early on that throughout my pregnancy I would be buying a little every week. Just the thought of waiting until my last trimester to buy everything gave me major anxiety. Also, instead of spending a bunch of money all at once, why not do it gradually throughout your entire pregnancy? I know some people like to wait till after the baby shower, but I’m too much of a control freak and I live my life off of ‘To Do’ lists so that just wouldn’t work for me.
Being able to buy little by little every week made this pregnancy so much more exciting. I made a full list of items needed around 10 weeks and it felt great every time I checked stuff off. Of course, I added to the list throughout my pregnancy.
Majority of my list was crossed off by my 7th month. I did make a registry, but I only listed small items like décor, clothing, bottles and toys. I so recommend doing it this way. Like I said it caused me less stress, less anxiety and we didn’t have to worry about spending a chunk of money at once.
