Before I even thought about getting pregnant I already knew that once I did, I wanted a super glam maternity shoot. The pregnant body is such a beautiful thing and especially with it being my first pregnancy, I wanted to be able to look back and be like, “Damn girl, you looked great.”
Weeks prior to doing the shoot, I stayed on Pinterest to look for inspiration. I decided on doing 5 different looks. A long white gown, a black off the shoulder front split maternity gown maxi, matching grey Calvin Klein cotton bralette and boy shorts, same set with my fiance’s white button down and then nude!!! I have to admit that I was very nervous about doing the nude photos, but as soon as I got comfortable and Beyonce started blasting I was good to go. Some people may frown upon the whole nude shoot thing but listen it’s 2018 and as long as it’s done tastefully, why not?
For the shoot, I was dead set on photoshopping my linea nigra out but then I decided not to. It’s part of being pregnant!
I ended up sending my family members these photo albums with all my maternity pictures in them. Not everyone got the nude pics! My photographer made the nude pics in black & white to give it that classic look. I framed them and put them in my bedroom. For the rest of my maternity pictures, I tried the Mixbook metal prints and it came out better than I could have imagined. It’s an ultra slim aluminium print that can either be displayed as curved, a flat wall mount or flat table top. I did a flat table top in multiple sizes on my etagere and I still can’t get over how great it looks!
Ladies, please remember that this is such a magical time in your life. We should embrace all the changes going on with our bodies. Do that maternity shoot whether it’s nude, half nude, a full blown elegant shoot or an outdoor shoot. If you ever start to doubt yourself just ask yourself, “What would Beyonce do?”
